EDM #54 - Someone You Love

Today my daughter (4 years old) told me that when she grows up, she doesn´t want to be like me. She wants to be normal! ;)
I tried to find out her understanding of the term `normal´, but she didn´t feel like telling me. I adore her and I´m sure I´ll hear more wise words from her. :)

EDM #54 - Someone You Love

This is my first portrait ever. It shows her asleep on the table - tired from Kindergarden.
There´s a lot to improve and a lot of things I would change, but I´m satisfied with my first attempt.

What alovely portrait. What does your daughter think of it? Is it "normal"?

This is beautiful, and so is she! I think she'll get over wanting to be 'normal' by the time she grows up.
Funny, in the last several days I've seen at least 3 portraits of the artist's daughter (and I did one too!)

wonderful portrait...especially for your first portrait!!! p.s. I believe that "normal" to a 4-year-old is "Dora the Explorer" which means you must have a backpack that talks, a pet monkey and always wear very bright colors!!! :) hugs...

nice sketch. Welcome to the world of drawing/painting your child. Mine is 19 years old now and I have to pay him for his posing time - even if it's 5 minutes. It's worth every dollar. I must have at least 100 paintings of him. Thanks for visiting my blog...

probably best not to press her on what she meant! they do come out with some amazing insights though

What is normal? I'd love to hear her answer. Delightful daughter, delightful sketch and as a first, amazing.

Yesterday she came to me and said: "You know what? Actually I think you are normal, I just hadn´t realized that yesterday."

lol. I really enjoy listening to her when she talks. Somehow I can´t believe that I was able to talk like that when I was 4 years old.

She sounds very bright! I think if the child thinks you are not normal, you must be doing something right... :)

This is wonderful, I can't believe it's your first portrait, well done! I just hope that my first real-life one turns out half as good.
