The Portrait Party 4 - Miriam Stella

Miriam Stella is one of the two portraits I drew during our vacation in Calpe. She writes that she´s a scientist, a reader, a gardener, a wife, BF, daughter, sister, aunt. Check out her blogs here.

My portrait of her:

Portrait of Miriam Stella
The original pic showed her sitting in a diner. How I would have loved to exchange places with her. American diners are just places I always enjoy being at.

And this is the portrait she drew:

The portrait is very nice. I specially like how she did the background.

And the link to the original pic.

Thanks, Miriam!

EDM #13 - Your Telephone

Even if the topic is "Draw your telephone", I don´t really have a lot to say today.

EDM #13 - Your Telephone

FYI: The cell phone looks huge, but in fact it is credit card sized without the covering.

The Portrait Party 2 - Justin Morton

Justin Morton sent in the first portrait of me. I was so excited to have a look at it. Check out his blogs about his art and about everyday life. You can have a lot of fun reading there.

My portrait of him:
Portrait of Justin Monson
Somehow I made him look like a thug.

And this is the portrait he drew:

And the link to the original pic.

My husband said: "You look a lot friendlier in real!"
My brothers: "The portrait makes you look like a 45-year old, tea drinking, boring aunt, which has grown quite fat!" (What kind of strange comment is that???)

Sorry Justin, for these comments. I was very happy when I had a look at it. I could recognize myself immediately and you have done a perfect job on my nose! :) And it is the first time someone sketched me and that is wonderful too.
I guess, all that counts is that the recipient is happy, isn´t it? And I´m definitely very happy with the exchange: tea drinking lady against thug!

EDM #54 - Something Round (Cheeseburger)

Somehow I missed last weeks EDM challenge. So I´m handing it in a little late. My first thought when I heard last weeks topic (Draw something round) was a Bagel. But immediately after that I had a cheeseburger in mind.
EDM #117 - Something Round (Cheeseburger)

I really love and enjoy eating! ;) I had a filling Greek dinner tonight, so my cravings for a cheeseburger have stopped for a while.

My daughter´s words 5

A (4 years old) sighing: "What a life!"
Me: "Why?"
A: "I like it."

My daughter´s words 4

Love her remarks. She keeps making me smile. :)

I Met A Genius by Charles Bukowski

bkw2

I Met A Genius
by Charles Bukowski

I met a genius on the train
today
about 6 years old,
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's not pretty.

it was the first time I'd
realized
that.

Charles Bukowski is one of my favorite writers. He makes me smile, so there will be more to come!

EDM #110 - A Flame

EDM #110 - A Flame

I´ve already been bored with the Everyday Matters (EDM) weekly challenge. I always have the feeling I would rather draw something else than the weekly topic. But then I do know that it will help me improve my skills if I draw what I am asked to, so I force myself to complete some more themes of their long list of challenges.

EDM #7 - Bottle (of Whisky)

I received a new book Everyday Matters by Danny Gregory. I spent some time reading it and found it quite inspiring. I did some quick sketches after the reading.
This is the first sketch where I managed to draw simple, single lines (at least some of them), so I guess I´m improving. :D

EDM #7 - Bottle

This is a miniature bottle of Bruichladdich whisky. It´s a special bottle and I have been saving it for a special occasion. Tonight is Purim and you are supposed to get drunk. So maybe I´ll open it tonight! ;)

BTW: Anybody interested in whisky should subscribe to WHISKYCAST.

EDM #54 - Someone You Love

Today my daughter (4 years old) told me that when she grows up, she doesn´t want to be like me. She wants to be normal! ;)
I tried to find out her understanding of the term `normal´, but she didn´t feel like telling me. I adore her and I´m sure I´ll hear more wise words from her. :)

EDM #54 - Someone You Love

This is my first portrait ever. It shows her asleep on the table - tired from Kindergarden.
There´s a lot to improve and a lot of things I would change, but I´m satisfied with my first attempt.
