Featured in the City Link Magazine (USA)

Some time ago the portrait I drew of Rama (the founder of the Portrait Party) was featured in the web tech section of the City Link magazine*. Yesterday I finally received 3 copies from the States. Michael Hall, the Art Director of City Link Magazine sent them to a friend and Mim was so kind to forward them to me. Thanks Mim and Michael! Makes me happy.

A Real Rama Hughes

Right in time before I´m leaving on vacation I received a package by mail from Rama Hughes. As I won one of the Portrait Party contests I am now the proud owner of a

REAL RAMA HUGHES!!!

You can´t imagine how happy I am to be holding this in my hand. Actually I would never put up a portrait of myself. But this one will get a special place in our home office. Thanks Rama. A huge and warm hug to you.

City Link Magazine - Anybody from South Florida?

Remember the portrait I drew of Rama, the founder of the Portrait Party? I just read at the Portrait Party, that the portrait is featured along with an article in the current web tech section of the City Link magazine*.

Wonderful Portrait Exchange (And Another Contest)

Spider-Rama

Remember the Portrait Party contest I won? I finally drew the portrait of Rama Hughes. He´s a huge fan of Spiderman, so I tried to make a Superhero out of him. I couldn´t help but smile when the portrait was done. Somehow he looks more cute than heroic.

Usually I do all the portraits in black and white. But this one really screamed for color, so at least I added some shadows. I would love to add some color, but I have no clue how. And I would hate to spoil the pic. Any suggestions?

My Favorite Fantasy 7

Finally I managed to draw the last requested sexual fantasy tonight. (Sorry, Dorin that you had to wait so long.) I didn´t even find the time to draw the 3 or 4 ideas I had for my own fantasies. I´m glad that I´ve got rid of most of my obligations. (Only one more thing is left: A portrait exchange with Rama, as I won the Portrait Party Contest.)
What did I learn? Yes, I´m good in some fields of art, but my artistic skills are pretty limited. I had such difficulties drawing pictures for people who knew exactly what they would like to have. I can´t even draw round circles. Look at the tires of the bicycle!!
But I had fun and enjoyed reading your fantasies (about elephant-trunk appendages and devils) and now I know that I´d better improve those fields in which my talents are more distinct.

2008 Already Sucks!

I´ve been wanting to exchange portraits with Rama Hughes so badly. Along with Tommy Kane, he is my favorite illustrator. This is the second contest which was held at the Portrait Party. I was runner-up in the first contest and this time I thought I wouldn´t even find the time to join. But the last days of December I suddenly had the time and a lot of partners to exchange portraits with.
And now I´ve made it!!! Woo hoo! You can´t imagine how emotional and teary-eyed I was when I read the post announcing that I had made it. I could hug the world.

I can tell you is that this is a wonderful way to start 2008 and nope, 2008 doesn´t suck. In fact this contest really made my year! :) New Year´s Eve was great too. Maybe I´ll post that later.

Portrait Party Contest

Rama Hughes of The Portrait Party has organized a Scavenger Hunt (A Portrait Party Contest) as the first contest went so well. I tried my best the last time but didn´t have enough portraits to win the contest.

This time there are a few more rules. The Contestants must complete a portrait swap with the following subjects:

• a parent (my mother)
  
• a child (my daughter)
  
• a sibling (my sister, my brother, my second brother)
  
• a significant other (my husband)
  
• an old friend
• a peer
• a teacher
• a hero
• a stranger
• an enemy (selfportrait ;))
  

I actually didn´t want to join the contest as December has been pretty busy and all of us sick too. But now during the holidays I did have some time. And when we were all at my mom´s place and I had just told my sister and brothers about the contest they all sat down with their pencils right away. I had 5 portraits in a few minutes!!!! I won´t win the contest this time either, but it is fun anyway.

My Art Will Be Published!

Well... at least one of the portraits I drew. :)

Rama Hughes sent me a note. The Artist´s Magazine is going to write a story about The Portrait Party and they want to print the portrait I did of Christine and the one she did of me. What a wonderful surprise and boost to my self-esteem. It is my first piece of art which is going to be published. And it was the fourth portrait I ever did in my life. It is still one of my favorites. I need to get a copy of this magazine.

Portrait Partners Needed Badly! Puleeez!

For a while I have been practicing portraits. I actually started this with the help of the wonderful group The Portrait Party. The person who started this group is Rama Hughes, a phantastic illustrator. Besides Tommy Kane, he´s my favorite illustrator. He gets a lot of requests for portrait exchanges, but hasn´t got the chance to do all of them besides his job. So he started a contest. The person who brings the most new partners into the group in August will have the chance to exchange portraits with him.
I really do want to exchange portraits with him badly, as I admire his art. So please help me win this contest. I´ll exchange portraits with anyone. I don´t need great artists, I just need YOU to draw my portrait and I´ll draw yours. (I really don´t care about the level or skill you have, I wouldn´t even mind a stickman. Stickwoman would be better though! ;) )

The Portrait Party 1 - Christine Castro

Christine Castro is the first artist of The Portrait Group group for whom I drew a portrait. I really enjoyed doing it and had fun looking at her websites Maganda.org and Darling Design. She is a nice lady.

The Portrait Party

So far I have only drawn 3 portraits. In the average that is 1 piece every 10 years! ;)
Rama Hughes is a fantastic illustrator whose new weblog quickly changed my mind about this. His blog/group The Portrait Party was inspired by Tommy Kane, another great artist. (Check out their portraits of each other.)

Basically when you participate in the portrait party, you and a fellow artist pair up and draw portraits of one another. I guess that can be a lot of fun. So here is my pic and let me know if you want to exchange portraits with me.
