Yes Yes
Charles Bukowski
when God created love he didn't help most
when God created dogs He didn't help dogs
when God created plants that was average
when God created hate we had a standard utility
when God created me He created me
when God created the monkey He was asleep
when He created the giraffe He was drunk
when He created narcotics He was high
and when He created suicide He was low
when He created you lying in bed
He knew what He was doing
He was drunk and He was high
and He created the mountains and the sea and fire at the same time
He made some mistakes
but when He created you lying in bed
He came all over His Blessed Universe.

When through the old oak forest I am gone,
Let me not wander in a barren dream,
But when I am consumed in the fire,
Give me new Phoenix wings to fly at my desire.
[John Keats (1795-1821)]
Monday night (actually at 5:30 am in the morning) I completed my first commissioned work since having the kids. (And that is a long time after 5.5 years.) I was asked to draw a cover for a book called "Krötenkarneval" by Markus A. Hediger. He is a Swiss author who emigrated to Brazil with his family a few months ago. Unfortunately the book is not available in English (yet?). The stories are fantastic and lovely to read. It will be available from Juli 1, 2008 at Edition Neue Moderne.
I enjoyed doing the cover and it made me happy and proud that the two publishers and the author of the book are as content with it as me. Anybody else needs a cover to a book? ;)

The Norwegian jazz composer and vocalist Kristin Asbjørnsen with her band Dadafon sings this subtle and graceful solo piano piece "I Wish to Weep" for the movie Factotum. The words for the song were taken from a Bukowski poem found in his book "What Matters Most Is How Well You Walk Through the Fire".

The two postcards shown here are not mine, but today I sent off 9 secrets to PostSecret. It´s my favorite blog and I wait for the new post eagerly every Sunday. I´m curious whether any of my secrets are interesting enough to be posted at PostSecret. I know that Frank Warren gets around 1000 secrets every week and he posts 20 of them every Sunday. So chances are pretty small that one of mine will be posted. We´ll see!
