Jerusalem Sketches - The Schatz Garden

March 31, we took a bus to Ofra and spent the day there with the Schatz family. They had invited Benjamin in January 2008 to spend Shabbes with them and he wanted me to meet them too. They are a wonderful family and I enjoyed our stay there. Thanks, Family Schatz for the warm welcome, the garden tour and its wonderful dried fruit and the wonderful lunch, tea and cookies.







Update:
I forget to mention that in the evening we drove with Lisa and Yecheskel back to Jerusalem to an Asian restaurant. At the Yoja we enjoyed Sushi, Dim Sum, Sake, etc... It has been years since we last went to an Asian restaurant. Boy, I do miss it again.

Tokyo In Sight!

Well, the title of this post may be exaggerated, but today I won in the lottery. Usually I play once or twice a year. But then Dorin Popa (a guy from Munich) started a lottery blog. Each week he buys a lottery ticket and if you have saved his address in your blog roll or comment on his blog you join the lottery automatically.

Of course people started fantasizing what they would do with the money. Me too. I was sure if I would win a larger sum, I would go on a holiday trip. The past days I have been thinking, reading and even dreaming a lot of Tokyo. Today night I thought to myself that if I ever wanted to fly to Japan, I would need to buy a lotto ticket. That´s what I did online at 3 am in the morning.
Today I won and if I do so a few more times I can book my flight to Tokyo. :) What a great year!
Actually I do not have any relationship to Japan and I guess I have pretty touristy interests in Tokyo, but the city is just too tempting. I think of Geishas, Sumo Wrestling, Bondage, Sushi, Cosplay, Craziness, Tea, Manga, Maid Cafes, Capsule Hotels, Ghibli, Samurai, Noodles, Electric Craziness, masses of people, weird stuff and lots more.
According to last weeks quotes I´ll just have to win another 35 times. :)

Sushi (100 Ideas 4)

Dinner time is always very busy, specially with the kids around. No chance of being able to draw my dinner then. So I decided to draw my lunch. Usually I only eat something small at home. But yesterday I saw this delicious box full of sushi waiting for me right there on my way back home from an appointment. I decided to treat myself as I love sushi and haven´t had it for about 5 years! I´m sure I was also inspired by a sushi drawing done by The Renaissance Chameleon. I saw it the first time about 10 months ago and I really like it very much. It also got me to do more Moleskine drawings.

4. Draw your dinner.

You can´t imagine how difficult it was to draw the sushi instead of eating it. So I had to do a quick illustration... always eating the parts, which I had already completed drawing. Give me more!



You can find a lot of sushi drawings in Moleskines at flickr. I guess, it is easier to draw your food when it won´t get cold while doing so.
