Back To Costa Calma, Fuerteventura!

From June 26 to July 10 we´ll be spending our time here on the island again. Currently we are watching the EM soccer finals between Spain and Germany. It just got pretty loud here, so I´m off!

Big News!!!! Publishing House Edition Neue Moderne

Remember the cover illustration I did some weeks ago?
On June 11, 2008 my husband took over the publishing house EDITION NEUE MODERNE, which was supposed to publish the book.
Now the appearance of the first published books have been changed and the quality of them as well. The book parcels have already arrived and I just can´t wait to see and hold the books in real. I´m very excited about this new development and can´t wait to get more news from the publisher.

Until then can have a look at the press proof of the third book:
Update:
The second link shows the book with the toad-cover done by me.

Rooster´s Breakfast / Petelinji Zajtrk

After watching Johnny 316 on Monday, I went to see Rooster´s Breakfast at the filmfest. Rooster´s Breakfast is the most successful Slovenian movie of all time and premiered yesterday in Germany. Both the director Marko Naberšnik and main character Vlado Novak attended the premiere. They had a short talk with the audience and seem to be two very nice and humerous guys. If you have the chance, you should go and see the movie.

Watch the trailer and a wonderful song by Severina Vučković.

Filmfest Munich Premieres A Lynch Movie

Germany’s largest summer film festival is taking place for the 26th time, in Munich, from June 20 - 28, 2008. 237 films from 41 countries are shown on 15 screens – all German premieres.

I watched two movies last night. Surveillance by Jennifer Lynch and Small Gods by Dimitri Karakatsanis.
Surveillance is the story about two FBI agents who track a serial killer with the help of three of his would-be victims - all of whom have wildly different stories to tell. Watch the trailer here at YouTube.
Jennifer Lynch and Julia Ormond were both present and they seem to be very nice. Jennifer Lynch thanked the audience for coming (despite a soccer game and a film award celebration). She warned us, that the movie would be pretty "wacky" and that she was curious to see our reactions. Julia Ormond asked the audience to refrain from throwing stuff at them. :)
I did enjoy the movie. Unfortunately I couldn´t stay and listen to J. Lynch and J. Ormond answering the audiences´ questions, as I had tickets for another movie too.

The second movie Small Gods is told in flash backs. Elena tries to explain to her lawyer what has happened to her since she went missing from a hospital where she was being treated for the wounds caused by the car accident that killed her little boy.
I enjoyed this movie too, but still need to think about it. (The movie even featured a boxing match with God.)

Today I hope to see Johnny 316 as I´m a fan of Vincent Gallo.

Beach In Martha´s Moly_x_20

Martha´s Moly_x_20

Martha´s Moly_x_20
This one was fun to do and turned out completely untypical for me... the light colors, using water color pencils, white space, etc. I do prefer the opposite, but I think it goes well with this moly.

Done for the Moly_x_20.

Goana / Monitor Lizard / Varanus Komodoensis

goana / monitor lizard / varanus komodoensis

It is nearly the end of the kindergarten year. Every year we have a new young guy (doing a voluntary year in the social sector) taking care of the kids. He´s been saving for a goana. This is the card he´ll receive with his leaving gift.
(I´m not really sure whether I should color it with pencil colors or not. Any suggestions?)

PostSecrets

Today (Sunday, 8. June 2008) finally one of my secrets is shown at the PostSecret blog. I´ve been dropping postcards (with my secrets) weekly into the mailbox. In the whole about 6 so far. So there are a few more to come.
Can you guess which one it is? I checked all of the secrets shown today and about 10 of the 20 postcards could be mine. So I am on the safe side. ;) I adjusted my secret slightly so that it wouldn´t be apparent which one is mine. After all it is a secret, isn´t it? Happy guessing!

PS. You may comment which secret you think belongs to me, but I won´t reveal whether you are right.

I am a pianist of twelve years, and I have no idea the difference between a nocturne and a sonata or what a B flat scale consists of.

I work at a place where "store bought" food is made.... if you're really concerned about your health, eat only the items that are homemade.

You're not alone.

Whenever I sleep with someone new, I envision what our wedding would be like; the colors, the guests, who would stand up on each side. Needless to say, I've had quite a few imaginary weddings. It's unfortunate.

Fuerteventura, We´ll Be Back!

:D

Back and forth Fuerteventura

On our way back home we had a problem with our aircraft. So we got stuck one night in Madrid without luggage. We had a free night at a hotel but were starving as we hadn´t had any food for almost 20 hours. (It was late when we arrived in Madrid, so we couldn´t go to the great kosher restaurant they have there.)
When we arrived back in Munich the next day at lunch time: starving, unwashed and -unbrushed, tired, old clothing, etc. we didn´t go home immediately. From the tram we called the only kosher café in the city and ordered pizzas which were served soon after we arrived.

Back here for two days and Benjamin and I feel tired all ready. Where did the relaxation of the past 11 days disappear to?

That´s not acceptable we decided, so we booked the same hotel and flight again and in less then 3 weeks we´ll be back in Fuerteventura. :) Benjamin for 10 days and me and the kids for 14 days.
The next two weeks are full of stuff I need to get done. So I´ll post the drawings and more photos of Fuerteventura when I´m back from the next vacation.

Vegetation Of Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is a dry volcano island and drinking water is scarce. There isn´t much vegetation there except for cacti and some shrubs. All the palm trees and flower bushes you can see there are "man -made".

Swimming in Costa Calma

First swimming lesson for the kids in Fuerteventura:

I´m not going in again...

So after 10 days of vacation Aaliyah knows how to swim and Benjamin learnt diving:
